2012 Virginia Silverbacks

The Virginia Silverbacks semi-pro football team is a member of the Mason-Dixon League and played hard-hitting games from Charlottesville to Richmond, VA and as far north as Baltimore, MD. Central Virginia Photography Services Photographer, Brian Lewis, shot games and marketing images for the team in 2012.

"I had been shooting girls lacrosse and motorsports, so this was a real change," said Lewis. "Photographing  semi-pro football from the sidelines..., the intensity at which these guys were hitting each other was a new sensation. I really learned a lot from the players and coaching staff. On and off the field, their sense of family was pervasive - I missed that after the season closed."
